Key features

  • Creates Crisper Light. The photo umbrella has a silver reflective inner face and a black cover. The silver internal lining minimizes light loss while maximizing light spread, cast that soft, silvery sheen on a subject with just the right quality of light bounce, you will get a little harder/crisp light than what you would with a white interior reflective or shoot through
  • Sturdy Umbrella Frame. Reflective lighting umbrella constructed with flexible fiberglass ribs and a thickened stainless steel shaft. Compared with the metal structure, the fiberglass ribs from this parabolic umbrella is flexible and sturdy; 8mm umbrella shaft is bend resistance and wear resistance, suitable for a variety of strobe light, flashes and flash mounts
  • Big Size. The diameter of the reflective umbrella is increased to 71 inches, the huge size and the ultra-deep parabolic shape can precisely control the spread of light. With it, you can illuminate the entire body with only one light source. If you need a large, bright light source then this is what you want
  • Wide Range of Applications. Broad light source for portraits, products or scenes. Amazing light the umbrella bring for not only single portrait and product photography(indoors and out), but also for groups. It saves using two lights when this huge umbrella covers a lot of people. Great for the amateur photographer and professional photographer

What this one is for

An umbrella is the fastest soft light there is: it opens in a second, mounts on the stand with one turn of a knob and folds back to the length of a forearm. For portraits, weddings and anything where people move, that speed is worth more than the extra control a box would give you.

Matching it to a photography backdrop stand

Choosing the size is arithmetic rather than taste. Measure the wall across, subtract roughly a foot at each end for the legs and the fittings, and you have the span the frame has to accommodate when it is fully open. Height comes next, and it is the figure that changes once a subject stands: a seated portrait is happy at seven feet, a standing one wants everything expanded so the top edge of a muslin, seamless white, black or green surface stays above the shot. Keep a step of space behind the subject rather than putting them directly against the surface. In a small room, buy a little extra width — that is where an additional panel, a light or a prop ends up living. As a general matter, one size up forgives more than one size down.

Putting it up

Assembly is quick and standard. Pull each telescopic section up by hand, lock the adjustable collar, square the base. The mounting threads are the usual size for this kind of gear, so a fitting borrowed from another stand will do, and the whole setup takes one pair of hands. Stability comes from the base rather than the column: spread the legs fully, position the feet out of the walkway, and it sits stable on a floor that is not quite flat. Anything heavy hanging on the system wants weight at the feet as well.

Hanging it and holding it steady

The crossbar carries the hang, the hooks spread it and a spring clamp secures the corners. Keep two spare clamps in the kit: one ends up on a light, one on a tripod tube, and neither is worth needing and not having.

Carrying it and keeping it

Folded, it is compact enough to transport as one piece: the carry bag in the package takes the whole collapsible set, so no extra sections travel loose. The quality worth paying for is boring: metal collars that still grip, a design with no part that only works while new. Aluminum keeps a pro kit portable, heavier metal makes it durable, and durability on gear like this is an argument about joints. We would rather sound dull than claim an excellent finish. Care is minimal: wipe the sections, keep the clamps in the same bag, store it dry. Roll fabric rather than folding it and a wrinkle stops being something you plan around.
