If the room is borrowed and the call time is tight, this is the kit we would carry in. At full extension the top of the column stands 8.5ft, which keeps the hem off the floor in a small room.

We build it in aluminium alloy and cotton because gear that lives in a car boot gets handled badly. You also get a heavy-duty build, a washable surface and a carry bag. Specifications here are read straight off our own listing — no rounding, no best case.

Key features

  • Upgraded Green Screen Backdrops. Crafted from premium cotton, this 6 x 9ft photo backdrop is fully machine washable for easy care. It sets up quickly and securely, designed for heavy-duty use. When used with included clamps, the backdrop stays firmly in place without slipping. Featuring a seamless woven surface and reinforced hemmed edges, it resists tearing for long-lasting performance.
  • Photography Umbrella with 45W CFL Bulbs. 33inch flash umbrella effectively diffuses light, evenly spreading the beam while minimizing glare and hot spots. Ideal for portrait and product photography, compatible with the included green chromakey muslin backdrop. Features 5500K daylight fluorescent bulbs with flicker-free, silent operation and 8,000-hour lifespan. Bulb base compatible with E26/E27 sockets.
  • 8.5 x 10ft Backdrop Support System. This backdrop stand supports canvas, muslin and paper, suitable for home and professional studio use. The background stand can extend to a height of 8.5 ft (2.6 m) and a width of 10 ft (3 m), providing ample space for various studio shoots. Built for durability with aluminum alloy, the stand is designed for stability with a tripod base that prevents shaking, even when fully extended.
  • Suitable for Various Scenarios. This professional photography lighting kit is ideal for various shooting scenarios including portrait photography, product shooting (advertising/industrial/children's products), video recording, live streaming, and photo reproduction.

Where it sits in the range

Chroma key panels, collapsible screens, washable polyester backdrops and tulle curtain sets from EMART — the fabric half of the set, cut to the span of our photography backdrop stands.

Where it earns its place

A green screen is a background built to be thrown away in the edit, which puts all of the quality into the surface: matte, even and flat across everything the lens sees. Ours serve streaming desks, recorded interviews and product photography, and they hang from the same crossbar as every other backdrop we make.

Sizing it against your photography backdrop stand

Work out the size from the room rather than from the catalogue. Measure the wall you shoot against, take a foot off each end for the legs, and what is left is the span a frame opens to and can honestly accommodate. Height is the figure people change their mind about later: seven feet suits a seated subject, while a standing full-length shot wants the frame fully expanded so the top edge of a seamless white, muslin, black or green surface stays out of shot. Space behind the subject matters as much as space across it — stood directly against the surface, anybody picks up its texture. In a small room, give yourself a little extra at the back so an additional panel or a prop can go in without everything having to move. As a general rule, choosing one size up costs less than choosing one size down.

Setting it up

Setup, in order: extend each telescopic section, lock the adjustable collar, then square the base. The mounting fitting is standard, so heads and clamps from other stands assemble onto it without an adaptor, and it all happens quickly with two hands. Stability comes from the base rather than the column: spread the legs fully, position the feet out of the walkway, and it sits stable on a floor that is not quite flat. Anything heavy hanging on the system wants weight at the feet as well.

Hanging it and holding it steady

Hang the surface a little narrower than the crossbar so it has something to pull against. A spring clamp secures each corner, hooks carry the middle, and that clamp will just as happily hold a light modifier or pin a cable to a tripod tube when the kit outgrows the room.

Bag, case and care

Transport is the test most of this kit fails. Folded it is compact, the carry bag swallows the collapsible frame and the small extra parts, and the whole package carries on one shoulder. Material and durability are the same question here. Aluminum alloy is the light choice and steel the enhanced one, and the quality of a design shows in whether a section still locks after a year. Professional gear is rarely powerful; it is excellent at being predictable, which is practicality rather than polish. Care takes a minute: sections wiped, clamps back in the bag, the whole thing kept upright in a corner. A wrinkle in a surface is a storage problem rather than a fabric problem.
