Our 8.5FT Light Stand with Photography Reflector Holder Disc Clip is the piece we hand over when a room has to turn into a set in one go. 8.5ft of height at the top of the travel gives you slack to raise the whole background once the subject sits down.

The build runs to aluminium alloy, which keeps the weight sensible without giving up on the joints. You also get a portable format. We keep one listing per size so you are never guessing which box arrives.

Key features

  • Portable Reflector Light Stand: Made of aluminum alloy, height can be adjusted from 2.9ft to 8.5ft. Lightweight but stable. The standard 1/4" screw tip can be connected to any lamp head
  • Reflector Disc Holder Clamp: Made of durable plastic and aluminum alloy, silver-plated surface, smooth and textured, compact and portable
  • Easy to Assemble: Just unscrew the nob on the mount, fix the reflector clip on the top of the light holder then fasten it on the reflector
  • Quick to Use : You can clip the backdrop and reflector without additional assistants. It only take few minutes to complete. Suitable for photography studios, live photo, video shooting

Where it earns its place

A light stand is the part of a kit nobody thinks about until something expensive hits the floor. This is a support stand built to go high cheaply and stay stable while it is up there, which is a different job from a tripod — a tripod is built to hold something still and aim it.

Sizing it against your photography backdrop stand

Work out the size from the room rather than from the catalogue. Measure the wall you shoot against, take a foot off each end for the legs, and what is left is the span a frame opens to and can honestly accommodate. Height is the figure people change their mind about later: seven feet suits a seated subject, while a standing full-length shot wants the frame fully expanded so the top edge of a seamless white, muslin, black or green surface stays out of shot. Space behind the subject matters as much as space across it — stood directly against the surface, anybody picks up its texture. In a small room, give yourself a little extra at the back so an additional panel or a prop can go in without everything having to move. As a general rule, choosing one size up costs less than choosing one size down.

Setting it up

It opens from folded in one pass, with no tools. Each telescopic section is adjustable along its length, mounting is the standard thread studio fittings use, and setup is quick enough that you assemble it after the subject has arrived rather than an hour before. Stability comes from the base rather than the column: spread the legs fully, position the feet out of the walkway, and it sits stable on a floor that is not quite flat. Anything heavy hanging on the system wants weight at the feet as well.

Hanging it and holding it steady

The crossbar carries the hang, the hooks spread it and a spring clamp secures the corners. Keep two spare clamps in the kit: one ends up on a light, one on a tripod tube, and neither is worth needing and not having.

Bag, case and care

It packs into the carry bag it arrives in — a portable, collapsible package small enough to live in a car boot between shoots, which is the only way gear gets used weekly. Aluminium alloy keeps the weight sensible; the metal that decides durability sits in the locks and the joints, not the finish. The design is pro in the only sense that matters — practicality over appearance — and the material trade is plain: aluminum travels, steel survives. Keep it dry and the care budget is a cloth. Grit in a joint wears a section faster than rain does; a rolled surface arrives without a wrinkle, a folded one arrives with a map of itself.

    A supportive photo/video accessory!

The EMART 8.5FT green screen holder is lightweight and easy to assemble, but sturdy enough to support my 4.5 x 6.5 green/blue screen during virtual meetings or photography sessions. As mentioned in someone else's review, this isn't ideal for windy outdoor photo shoots. However, it works really well for indoor photo sessions or videoconference sessions. As seen in the photos, once the edge of the screen is centered and secured by the clip, you can position it horizontally or vertically. The telescoping rod can be adjusted to the needed height. I've had it for about a month and, as long as it's kept clean and dry, it should last quite a while. This is a keeper...!

    Works great easy set up

Easy to manage height is perfect for my pop-up green screen. The hook makes it so easy to just clip and release.

Stand Sturdy but Clip Is Very Stiff

I bought this stand which is sturdy to accommodate my NEEWER Chromakey Backdrops. The reflector clip is very stiff so hoping after time it will become a bit loser. May try some WD40. Overall happy with the price point as stands over 8ft tall.
