Where it sits in the range
EMART spring-cushioned light stands, heavy-duty C-stands with boom arms, reverse-folding tripods and phone stands for photography on location.
What this one is for
A light stand is the part of a kit nobody thinks about until something expensive hits the floor. This is a support stand built to go high cheaply and stay stable while it is up there, which is a different job from a tripod — a tripod is built to hold something still and aim it.
What size EMART backdrop stand this suits
Size is a room problem before it is a shopping problem. Take the wall you shoot against, measure across it and subtract a foot at each end for the legs — the rest is what the frame can accommodate once it is open. Then decide height, because that is the figure people change their mind about the moment the subject stands up: seven feet suits seated work, full-length needs the sections fully expanded so the top edge of a white, black, green or seamless muslin surface never appears. Leave space between the subject and the surface too; stood directly against it, a face picks up every mark behind it. A small room rewards a little extra span, which is where an additional panel or a prop goes. In general, choosing one size up is the cheaper mistake.
Putting it up
Setup, in order: extend each telescopic section, lock the adjustable collar, then square the base. The mounting fitting is standard, so heads and clamps from other stands assemble onto it without an adaptor, and it all happens quickly with two hands. The legs open wide, and that width is the stability — not the thickness of the tube. Position the base so nobody kicks a foot, and add weight at the feet whenever the load is heavy or people are moving across the room behind the frame.
Hanging it and holding it steady
The crossbar carries the hang, the hooks spread it and a spring clamp secures the corners. Keep two spare clamps in the kit: one ends up on a light, one on a tripod tube, and neither is worth needing and not having.
Carrying it and keeping it
The bag in the package is the one it will spend its life in: collapsible frame, small parts, extra clamps. Folded it is portable enough for a train and compact enough for a boot. Durability lives in the fittings. Aluminum alloy gives an enhanced strength for the weight, the material of the locking collars decides the rest, and the practicality of a professional design beats a powerful specification nobody uses. Quality here means the metal has not moved in a year. Care takes a minute: sections wiped, clamps back in the bag, the whole thing kept upright in a corner. A wrinkle in a surface is a storage problem rather than a fabric problem.

Great EMART Value - Again
No problems at all with this pair of stands. They're solid, easily adjustable, they lock height strongly, and hold more than their weight - more than you'd expect - and safely.

Solved my nighttime cornhole lighting need
These stands are a great deal and helped me find stands stout enough to hold my 5lb Ridgid LED lights. Stands are thicker than regular tripod stands for photography. Yes, it can be a little wobbly when extended to it highest point with these heavy lights, but if it’s windy I’ll adjust to a lower height for better stability. For throwing cornhole bags at night, these stands will get the light plenty high enough to illuminate the cornhole boards so we can play well after dark without excuses that I cant see the board. I looked for hours for the right tripods to hold a heavy light and at this price I would highly recommend. I’m sure there are heavier duty tripods, but you’ll pay triple the price for two. If you are going to use these every day in a construction site, you probably want to pay for the extra heavy duty tripods. But for my needs, I couldn’t be more happy.

Decent for the money...but not really heavy duty
First and foremost, I like these stands. They are better than many I have bought and used, and they do seem to hold even my heaviest lights without a problem. I like the twsity knobs for tightening, and their size is just right. But they just don't feel heavy duty. Legs feel very tinny and loose, and while time might prove me wrong, I don't see these stands holding up being hauled around from shoot to shoot. Great for home studio use...but not sure I am going to trust these long term for on-the-go usage. That said...for the price...I have not yet found another stand...let alone a pair of them...that can do what these stands do, at lease in the short term. So if these don't last...I am kinda okay with it. I could easily buy another set...maybe even two...and still spend less than what other stands cost.
