We designed this one around the part of the job nobody photographs: the half hour before the first frame.

We build it in metal because gear that lives in a car boot gets handled badly. It arrives with a collapsible frame, a portable format, a wrinkle-resistant weave and a reversible panel. If a size is missing from this page, it is because we do not make it, not because it sold out.

Key features

  • Dual-Sided Chroma Key Design. 5×6.5ft reversible backdrop with matte green screen and blue screen sides, 2 professional chroma key backgrounds in one for easy post-editing
  • Elastic & Durable Frame. Built with high-elasticity metal steel ring, quick shape recovery, resistant to repeated folding, no easy deformation or damage
  • Premium Wrinkle-Resistant Fabric. Smooth matte pure-color fabric, delivers even, clean background for perfect chroma key compositing and clear shooting results
  • Wide Versatile Application. Suitable for live streaming, video creation, vlogging, portrait photography, interviews and auditions; can be hung on stands or walls flexibly

What this one is for

A green screen is a background built to be thrown away in the edit, which puts all of the quality into the surface: matte, even and flat across everything the lens sees. Ours serve streaming desks, recorded interviews and product photography, and they hang from the same crossbar as every other backdrop we make.

Matching it to a photography backdrop stand

Work out the size from the room rather than from the catalogue. Measure the wall you shoot against, take a foot off each end for the legs, and what is left is the span a frame opens to and can honestly accommodate. Height is the figure people change their mind about later: seven feet suits a seated subject, while a standing full-length shot wants the frame fully expanded so the top edge of a seamless white, muslin, black or green surface stays out of shot. Space behind the subject matters as much as space across it — stood directly against the surface, anybody picks up its texture. In a small room, give yourself a little extra at the back so an additional panel or a prop can go in without everything having to move. As a general rule, choosing one size up costs less than choosing one size down.

Putting it up

Assembly is quick and standard. Pull each telescopic section up by hand, lock the adjustable collar, square the base. The mounting threads are the usual size for this kind of gear, so a fitting borrowed from another stand will do, and the whole setup takes one pair of hands. The legs open wide, and that width is the stability — not the thickness of the tube. Position the base so nobody kicks a foot, and add weight at the feet whenever the load is heavy or people are moving across the room behind the frame.

Clamping, hooks and the crossbar

A spring clamp at each corner secures the top edge and hooks spread the load along the crossbar, so the surface hangs straight instead of scalloping between two points. The same clamp keeps a light cable or a tripod leg out of frame when the kit gets crowded, without needing a second pair of hands.

Carrying it and keeping it

Transport is the test most of this kit fails. Folded it is compact, the carry bag swallows the collapsible frame and the small extra parts, and the whole package carries on one shoulder. Durability lives in the fittings. Aluminum alloy gives an enhanced strength for the weight, the material of the locking collars decides the rest, and the practicality of a professional design beats a powerful specification nobody uses. Quality here means the metal has not moved in a year. Care is minimal: wipe the sections, keep the clamps in the same bag, store it dry. Roll fabric rather than folding it and a wrinkle stops being something you plan around.
