Our Photo Backdrop Stand, 6.9x10ft Back Drop Stand for Party, Photography is the piece we hand over when a room has to turn into a set in one go. The columns go up to 6.9ft, so the top edge sits above the subject rather than in the frame.

We build it in aluminium alloy because gear that lives in a car boot gets handled badly. Specifications here are read straight off our own listing — no rounding, no best case.

Key features

  • Adjustable Height&Width. With adjustable height (2.7ft/84cm–6.9ft/210m) and width (5ft/1.5m-10ft/3m), the backdrop support system holds your backdrop in place and helps create different backgrounds for photography work.
  • Strong and Sturdy. The aluminum alloy backdrop stand is durable with load capacity up to 8.8lb/4kg. And the design of the tripod base ensures it won’t shake when fully extended to its maximum size.
  • Better Effect with Spring Clips. The clamp is made of strong and rugged type of plastic, strong spring and the rough surface enable itself to clamp anything onto the stand tightly and present a better shooting effect.
  • Easy to Assemble. You can set up the backdrop stand in less than 5minutes without any tools.Only need to press down the bar spring clamp and insert the hole at the other end.
  • Wide Application. This background stand kit is suitable for newborn photography, baby photoshoot, professional photo studio shooting, product display background, DIY photo booth, pet pictures, shooting video or home/wedding/parties decoration.

Where it sits in the range

Every EMART set starts with the same question: what is holding the background up? These are our photography backdrop stands — single crossbar, double, triple, T-shape and full pipe and drape — sized by the width of background they carry.

The job it does

A photography backdrop stand earns its keep by being boring. The frame goes up, the background hangs straight and nothing else in the room has to move. The same support stand serves portraits, seated interviews, pet photography and a photo booth at a wedding, because the job does not change: a clean surface behind the subject that stays where you put it.

Matching it to a photography backdrop stand

Size is a room problem before it is a shopping problem. Take the wall you shoot against, measure across it and subtract a foot at each end for the legs — the rest is what the frame can accommodate once it is open. Then decide height, because that is the figure people change their mind about the moment the subject stands up: seven feet suits seated work, full-length needs the sections fully expanded so the top edge of a white, black, green or seamless muslin surface never appears. Leave space between the subject and the surface too; stood directly against it, a face picks up every mark behind it. A small room rewards a little extra span, which is where an additional panel or a prop goes. In general, choosing one size up is the cheaper mistake.

Getting it standing

It opens from folded in one pass, with no tools. Each telescopic section is adjustable along its length, mounting is the standard thread studio fittings use, and setup is quick enough that you assemble it after the subject has arrived rather than an hour before. A wide base is what keeps the support system stable when somebody walks behind the subject. Position two legs under the load, keep the third foot clear of the walkway, and hang anything heavy low rather than at full height.

Clamping, hooks and the crossbar

A spring clamp at each corner secures the top edge and hooks spread the load along the crossbar, so the surface hangs straight instead of scalloping between two points. The same clamp keeps a light cable or a tripod leg out of frame when the kit gets crowded, without needing a second pair of hands.

Travel, bag and care

Folded, it is compact enough to transport as one piece: the carry bag in the package takes the whole collapsible set, so no extra sections travel loose. The quality worth paying for is boring: metal collars that still grip, a design with no part that only works while new. Aluminum keeps a pro kit portable, heavier metal makes it durable, and durability on gear like this is an argument about joints. We would rather sound dull than claim an excellent finish. Keep it dry and the care budget is a cloth. Grit in a joint wears a section faster than rain does; a rolled surface arrives without a wrinkle, a folded one arrives with a map of itself.
