We put our Backdrop Stand Heavy Duty 8.5x10ft Adjustable Pipe and Drape Stand on the floor for crews who need the shot up before the light changes. At full extension the top of the column stands 3ft, which keeps the hem off the floor in a small room.
The build runs to aluminium alloy and metal, which keeps the weight sensible without giving up on the joints. The build includes a heavy-duty build, a retractable crossbar and telescopic sections. We keep one listing per size so you are never guessing which box arrives.
Key features
- Heavy Metal Base. The base is made of high-quality iron. Its large contact area and sufficient weight ensure stable support, while the flat-bottomed design effectively prevents the stand from tipping over. To achieve maximum stability when suspending heavy objects, we strongly recommend filling the included water bag with water and placing it on the base during use to further enhance overall stability
- Retractable Crossbar. Max 10ft width - the telescopic design is adopted to make the width of the cross bar easily adjustable. The minimum width is 63inch/5.2ft, and the maximum width is 120inch/10ft. It can adapt to backdrops of different sizes. Note:Distribute weight evenly; avoid concentrated load. Hang from both ends for best performance.
- Durable Light Stand. Max 8.5ft height - The stand is made of good quality aluminum alloy, which is both durable and sturdy; Use the knob lock to adjust the height from 36inch/3ft-102inch/8.5ft
- Convenient Assembly. The metal background support stand is easy to install and can be quickly assembled in a few minutes. Before installing, refer to the instruction manual or installation video on the product page to learn how to complete the installation correctly and quickly
- Multiple Application. Suitable for wedding, reception, birthday party, baby shower, ceremony events, banner frame background, business activities and many other occasions. Add a more fashionable and high-end atmosphere to your party or activity

Where it sits in the range
Every EMART set starts with the same question: what is holding the background up? These are our photography backdrop stands — single crossbar, double, triple, T-shape and full pipe and drape — sized by the width of background they carry.
What this one is for
A photography backdrop stand earns its keep by being boring. The frame goes up, the background hangs straight and nothing else in the room has to move. The same support stand serves portraits, seated interviews, pet photography and a photo booth at a wedding, because the job does not change: a clean surface behind the subject that stays where you put it.
Sizing it against your photography backdrop stand
Work out the size from the room rather than from the catalogue. Measure the wall you shoot against, take a foot off each end for the legs, and what is left is the span a frame opens to and can honestly accommodate. Height is the figure people change their mind about later: seven feet suits a seated subject, while a standing full-length shot wants the frame fully expanded so the top edge of a seamless white, muslin, black or green surface stays out of shot. Space behind the subject matters as much as space across it — stood directly against the surface, anybody picks up its texture. In a small room, give yourself a little extra at the back so an additional panel or a prop can go in without everything having to move. As a general rule, choosing one size up costs less than choosing one size down.
Putting it up
Assembly is quick and standard. Pull each telescopic section up by hand, lock the adjustable collar, square the base. The mounting threads are the usual size for this kind of gear, so a fitting borrowed from another stand will do, and the whole setup takes one pair of hands. Stability is a question of footprint. Open the legs to their stops, press the feet down, and position the base so the heaviest part of the load sits over it — weight in the right place does more for a support system than weight in total.
Hanging it and holding it steady
The crossbar carries the hang, the hooks spread it and a spring clamp secures the corners. Keep two spare clamps in the kit: one ends up on a light, one on a tripod tube, and neither is worth needing and not having.
Carrying it and keeping it
The bag in the package is the one it will spend its life in: collapsible frame, small parts, extra clamps. Folded it is portable enough for a train and compact enough for a boot. The quality worth paying for is boring: metal collars that still grip, a design with no part that only works while new. Aluminum keeps a pro kit portable, heavier metal makes it durable, and durability on gear like this is an argument about joints. We would rather sound dull than claim an excellent finish. Care takes a minute: sections wiped, clamps back in the bag, the whole thing kept upright in a corner. A wrinkle in a surface is a storage problem rather than a fabric problem.
