Where it sits in the range
EMART ring lights with phone holders, bi-colour panel lights, barn-door kits and tabletop product lights, each with the stand it needs for photography and video.
Where it earns its place
A light fixes the subject and does nothing at all for what is behind them. Ring lights and panels serve talking-head video, interviews and product photography; the moment the shot gets wider, the clutter behind the chair becomes the problem and a backdrop stand becomes the next purchase.
Matching it to a photography backdrop stand
Size is a room problem before it is a shopping problem. Take the wall you shoot against, measure across it and subtract a foot at each end for the legs — the rest is what the frame can accommodate once it is open. Then decide height, because that is the figure people change their mind about the moment the subject stands up: seven feet suits seated work, full-length needs the sections fully expanded so the top edge of a white, black, green or seamless muslin surface never appears. Leave space between the subject and the surface too; stood directly against it, a face picks up every mark behind it. A small room rewards a little extra span, which is where an additional panel or a prop goes. In general, choosing one size up is the cheaper mistake.
Setting it up
Setup is hands only. The sections are telescopic, so you assemble it by pulling up and locking rather than by counting parts, and the adjustable collars let you stop anywhere between the stops. Mounting uses the standard fitting for this type of gear, so it mates with what is already in your bag, and it goes up quickly enough to do alone. Stability comes from the base rather than the column: spread the legs fully, position the feet out of the walkway, and it sits stable on a floor that is not quite flat. Anything heavy hanging on the system wants weight at the feet as well.
Hanging it and holding it steady
A spring clamp at each corner secures the top edge and hooks spread the load along the crossbar, so the surface hangs straight instead of scalloping between two points. The same clamp keeps a light cable or a tripod leg out of frame when the kit gets crowded, without needing a second pair of hands.
Bag, case and care
It packs into the carry bag it arrives in — a portable, collapsible package small enough to live in a car boot between shoots, which is the only way gear gets used weekly. Durability lives in the fittings. Aluminum alloy gives an enhanced strength for the weight, the material of the locking collars decides the rest, and the practicality of a professional design beats a powerful specification nobody uses. Quality here means the metal has not moved in a year. Care is minimal: wipe the sections, keep the clamps in the same bag, store it dry. Roll fabric rather than folding it and a wrinkle stops being something you plan around.

I may be an amateur, but I do know these lights are great!
I’ve had these for a while but didn’t want to review them until I got some use out of them. I love them! I take photos at times of projects I do or make videos for one reason or another. The truth is the difference between good and great is the lighting. These are durable and do everything I want and more. I took one and retrofitted it to one of those flexible phone holders so I could clamp it anywhere I need it and not use the little tripod stand. Definitely worth the money!

I love these!
I bought these to take better photos of my Etsy products and they work great! There are three light settings and you can adjust the brightness on each of them. When you use the tripod, they stay very stable and the light doesn't move around. I was very impressed with these and hope they last a while!

Convenient portable photo studio lights
I use these mainly for product photography, and I'm really impressed with them for the price. They give a bright, but diffused light with options to change brightness and color temperature. USB-powered means I can take them anywhere, the cord is a decent length, and the built in tripod stand is a nice feature. My only complaint is that they sometimes tip over depending on the angle I set the ring to, because the tripod feet aren't very large, but it's easy enough to adjust and work around. They don't get quite as bright as the pricier ring lights, but for product photography or anything in a small space they get the job done.
