This is our answer for the setup that has to go up, hold still and come down the same evening. 7ft of height at the top of the travel gives you slack to raise the whole background once the subject sits down.

The frame is metal, which is the difference between a stand that travels and one that bends. The build includes a heavy-duty build, a retractable crossbar, a portable format and a carry bag. If a size is missing from this page, it is because we do not make it, not because it sold out.

Key features

  • Upgraded Water Tank Base:This base can be filled with water or sand. Lightweight at just 0.87 lbs when empty, it weighs up to 7.80 lbs after filling—providing stable support for the metal backdrop stands to keep it firmly anchored without wobbling during use
  • Stable Backdrop Stand:The weighted water tank adds a solid foundation to prevent shifting, while the connectors lock component securely. The two work together to boost stability, keeping the stand secure and firmly anchored on the floor—even outdoors or in light wind conditions, it won’t tip over easily
  • Width & Height Adjustable:Freely modify the size of backdrop holder to suit your specific needs— height 2.8ft to 7ft and width 5.2ft to 10ft, it fits seamlessly into various scenarios, whether for a small studio setup, a large event venue, or outdoor photoshoots, ensuring a perfect fit with ease
  • Easy to Assemble:No complex operations are required, and there’s no worry about losing small parts. Only follow installation images or video guides, and you’ll have it all set up in just a few minutes
  • Wide Application:The heavy duty backdrop stand is suitable for a diverse range of scenarios, including wedding, birthday, party, baby shower, family reunion, events decoration, studio photography, commercial display, graduation ceremony and even outdoor shoot

Where it sits in the range

Every EMART set starts with the same question: what is holding the background up? These are our photography backdrop stands — single crossbar, double, triple, T-shape and full pipe and drape — sized by the width of background they carry.

What this one is for

A photography backdrop stand earns its keep by being boring. The frame goes up, the background hangs straight and nothing else in the room has to move. The same support stand serves portraits, seated interviews, pet photography and a photo booth at a wedding, because the job does not change: a clean surface behind the subject that stays where you put it.

What size EMART backdrop stand this suits

Work out the size from the room rather than from the catalogue. Measure the wall you shoot against, take a foot off each end for the legs, and what is left is the span a frame opens to and can honestly accommodate. Height is the figure people change their mind about later: seven feet suits a seated subject, while a standing full-length shot wants the frame fully expanded so the top edge of a seamless white, muslin, black or green surface stays out of shot. Space behind the subject matters as much as space across it — stood directly against the surface, anybody picks up its texture. In a small room, give yourself a little extra at the back so an additional panel or a prop can go in without everything having to move. As a general rule, choosing one size up costs less than choosing one size down.

Putting it up

It opens from folded in one pass, with no tools. Each telescopic section is adjustable along its length, mounting is the standard thread studio fittings use, and setup is quick enough that you assemble it after the subject has arrived rather than an hour before. A wide base is what keeps the support system stable when somebody walks behind the subject. Position two legs under the load, keep the third foot clear of the walkway, and hang anything heavy low rather than at full height.

Hanging it and holding it steady

The crossbar carries the hang, the hooks spread it and a spring clamp secures the corners. Keep two spare clamps in the kit: one ends up on a light, one on a tripod tube, and neither is worth needing and not having.

Carrying it and keeping it

It packs into the carry bag it arrives in — a portable, collapsible package small enough to live in a car boot between shoots, which is the only way gear gets used weekly. Durability lives in the fittings. Aluminum alloy gives an enhanced strength for the weight, the material of the locking collars decides the rest, and the practicality of a professional design beats a powerful specification nobody uses. Quality here means the metal has not moved in a year. Care is minimal: wipe the sections, keep the clamps in the same bag, store it dry. Roll fabric rather than folding it and a wrinkle stops being something you plan around.
